FREE STUFF! FinishSafe FinishTags

I have 2 problems today:

1.  I apparently have no friggin’ idea how to smize.  Tyra will be so disappointed when I enter to be America’s next top overweight midget model.

I think I fail at the whole smiling with my eyes thing. Splurf.

2. I often run alone early in the morning in the dark.  I never stray too far from home, but if something bad happened I’d be in trouble.  I’m too cheap to buy a RoadID and too lazy to carry ID.  Enter FinishSafe FinishTags.

My free set of FInishSafe FinishTags. I giggled when I saw that they say "Mrs. Stevens."

For absolutely zero dollars, I got an emergency medical ID card, 2 shoe tags, a key ring tag, 2 luggage tags and a bike tag.  This is super awesome because I have bad food allergies and a few chronic medical conditions.  EMTs can use the LIFEPIN provided on the tag to get all of my medical information (medical conditions, medications, insurance info, etc) that I provided to the site.  Considering how awesome I am at throwing myself down random outside stairs, this is probably a good thing.

Wallet ID card

Shoe my mouth? WTH self! This is what happens when I don't take my Ritalin.

So, since we are friends, I feel that I should pass on my coupon code for a free set of FinishTags from the FinishSafe web site for friends and family.  The code is “FAMILY17”.  It’s probably a really good idea to have some form of emergency ID when you run alone.

*FinishSafe does not know I’m writing this review.  They had a giveaway of free tags and I got some.  I think it’s a great deal and a great product, though!

How do you stay safe on runs alone?  Do you run in the dark?  And how the heck does one “smize” anyways?

What a fantastic idea. I’ve considered getting a RoadID but never committed, this will be great to throw on my keychain. Usually I don’t take any ID with me when I’m running (even in the dark) and I know how foolish that is. So this will be a great help (although I pray I never get injured and need it).

Thanks for the idea and code!

I ran alone at night in Africa on base, but I won’t do it here in the States. I love running at night, but only if I have a partner. 🙂

Oh awesome! I have been wanting to get a roadID but I’m too cheap also. And I’d win a gold medal in Running-Into-Things, so it’s probably a good idea for me to get this too. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I never run alone in the dark. I used to, but I just haven’t lately at all. The sun is up pretty early now and I never run at night. When I used to run in the dark, I would never run with my ipod and made sure I had reflective gear on.

  5. hahah smize. TYRA IS FREAKING CRAZY

  6. Jenn Murray says:

I ordered too but forgot to check my mail today. I wonder if it’s in there. I also got a shoe wallet for my key. I wonder how much else I can tie to my shoes?

  7. Becky says:

When I run alone I carry a tiny thing of pepper spray I bought from the running store. It clips to my iPhone arm band or I clip it to my side. I only run alone if it’s light outside. The paths/areas around where I live aren’t very safe!

Also, I run with a buddy whenever possible. Even if we don’t run the same speed. We’re both out there together and can be accountable for each other.

  8. Great idea… I’ve been meaning to get a RoadID but the price bugs me. I’ll have to check these out, thanks for sharing!

  9. Kara says:

I run alone, but I have mad kung fu skills. Also, I got a free road ID so I’m set 🙂

I got my tags in the mail today too. A very good thing, seeing as I seem to be nearly as good at randomly throwing myself at the ground as you are! It’s a talent.

WHA??????????? I didn’t get mine yet!!! 😦 I ordered mine a few weeks ago!!!!!!!!

I ordered them because I tend to run alone…in the ghetto…in the dark…creepy…..and oh yeah, I have creepers……….

  12. I never ever run in the dark alone…the spandex makes me mighty tempting 🙂

  13. Jill says:

I am scared to run in the dark!

  14. themadbohemian says:

I ordered my tags and got them in the mail this week. So cool.

I love running at night, but am scared to death to do it. I didn’t worry when it got dark early and was 5 degrees out….I really was the only person out running, but in the summer? Yeah, I worry that bad things will happen. It only takes a couple of seconds. So, I miss running alone at night. If I am going out running alone when it’s getting close to dark or going to be alone on the trails, I tell a friend or family when I’m leaving, which direction I am going, how many miles, and my estimated time. As much of a pain as it is, I try to carry my cell with me, but it’s so cumbersome!!!

I’m with Jenn….how much more can I tie to my shoes???

  15. Thanks for sharing! When I run I take my Health Card with me, always.

  16. Mandy says:

I got mine this week too! It was pretty funny – Mark always opens the mail. He opened them – and was like – WTH are these? Did you order MORE running stuff during your running “break”? *smirk* I teased him at first – not gonna lie. “I didn’t spend THAT much.” I think he was annoyed when I admitted it was free. HA!

Last summer – all my runs were timed to be before or after the sun was in the sky. LOL. I’m a total heat wimp when running – I know, hard to believe I’m from Texas and played on three soccer teams in the summer when I was in HS there, huh? 🙂

  17. Thanks for posting this! I signed up and ordered today!

Surely this was a huge scam. The tel # doesn’t answer, the website and Facebook pages no longer exist, Twitter is inactive… And they have a bunch of people’s very personal info. I’m pissed about it.

    • Or the company went under. I’m not really sure what you expect me to do about it.

      • petpsych says:

Erm, I have no expectations of you whatsoever. I’m not sure why you would think that. I’m merely pointing out that Finish Safe is no longer the real deal. Although if I were a writer of a running blog I’d probably do a follow up saying that you can no longer rely on this product in the event of an emergency. Yes maybe the company went under. This would be the best case scenario.
